George Harrison[nb 1] (25 February &#;– 29 November )[nb 2] was an English musician, singer and songwriter who achieved international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. Sometimes called "the quiet Beatle", Harrison embraced Indian culture and helped broaden the scope of popular music through his incorporation of Indian instrumentation and Hindu-aligned spirituality in the Beatles' work.
Although most of the band's songs were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, most Beatles albums from onwards contained at least two Harrison compositions. His songs for the group include "Taxman", "Here Comes the Sun", "Within You Without You", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and "Something". Throughout his life George celebrated his birthday on February 25th. But in the early s there were claims of a newly discovered 'hospital document'. This supposedly recorded his time-of-birth as PM, February 24,
Confusion
Only there was no hospital document because George Harrison was born at home, as was common during the war years. His brother, Harry, remembered 'tiptoeing up the stairs to see him after he was born'.
The stairs were those of a very small terraced house, 12 Arnold Grove. All existing documents confirm that this was George's birthplace in the early hours of February 25th
Nonetheless, February 24th has appeared in multiple sources, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It has now corrected this mistake.
