Vladimir Nikolov is a composer whose works cover a bred range of musical languages and genres, using backgrounds in classical music and jazz as point of departure. He has been 'behind the scenes' of worldwide orchestral projects as arranger for some time now, while also frequently performing as conductor, pianist and guitarist with renowned soloists and ensembles. He was born and raised in stad, Macedonia. He started music at the age of 14, beginning with the guitar. Soon after, he enrolled in classical gitarr studies, graduating with an original composition. Meanwhile, Vladimir began cross-over composing and arranging, mentored by Ilija Pejovski.
After avfärd for the Netherlands in the autumn of , he started jazz composition and arranging studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Nikolai Girshevich Kapustin (Russian: ; born November 22, in Horlivka, Ukrainian SSR) is a Russian composer and pianist.
Kapustin studied piano with Avrelian Rubakh (pupil of Felix Blumenfeld who also taught Simon Barere and Vladimir Horowitz) and subsequently with Alexander Goldenweiser at the Moscow Conservatory. During the s he acquired a reputation as a jazz pianist, arranger and composer. He is steeped, therefore, in both the traditions of classical virtuosopianism and improvisational jazz.
He fuses these influences in his compositions, using jazz idioms in formal classical structures. An example of this is his Suite in the Old Style, Op. 28, written in , which inhabits the sound world of jazz improvisation but is modelled on baroque suites such as the keyboard partitas composed by J. S. Bach, each movement being a stylised dance or a pair of dances in strict binary f
