Istiwâ’ Is a Divine Act

Istiwâ’ [al-Qur’an ; ; ; ; ]is one of the Attributes of acts (min sifât al-af‘âl) according to the majority of the explanations. Al-Qurtubi.
The establishment of His Throne in the heaven is known, and His Throne in the earth is the hearts of the People of Pure Monotheism (ahl al-tawhîd). He said: (and eight will uphold the Throne of their Lord that day, above them) (), and [concerning] the throne of the hearts:
[We carry them on the land and the sea] ().
As for the throne of the heaven: the Merciful established Himself over it (‘alayhi istawâ); and as for the throne of the hearts: the Merciful conquered it(‘alayhi istawlâ). The throne of the heaven is the direction of the supplication of creatures, while the throne of the heart is the locus of the gaze of the Real. Malik ibn Anas
Islamic scholar and traditionalist (–)

Malik ibn Anas (Arabic: مَالِك بْن أَنَس, romanized:Mālik ibn ʾAnas; c.–) was an ArabIslamic scholar and traditionalist who is the eponym of the Maliki school, one of the four schools of Islamic jurisprudence in Sunni Islam.[2]
Born in Medina into the clan of Banu Himyar, Malik studied under Hisham ibn Urwa, Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, Ja'far al-Sadiq, Nafi ibn Sarjis and others. He rose to become the premier scholar of hadith in his day,[2] Referred to as the Imam of Medina by his contemporaries, his views in matters of jurisprudence became highly cherished both in his own life and afterward, becoming the eponym of the Maliki school, one of the four major schools of Islamic jurisprudence.[2] His school became the normative rite for Sunni practice in much of North Africa, al-Andalus (until the expulsion of medieval native Iberian Muslims), a vast p

Abdullah ibn Nafi’ reported: Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked about the saying of Allah Almighty, The Most Merciful rose above the Throne, (). The man said, “How fryst vatten His rising?” Malik said, “The rising is acknowledged, its modality is unknown, and asking about it is an innovation. inom see you are a man who intended evil with this question.”

Ibn Abdul Barr said, “The people of the Sunnah agreed upon affirming the gudomlig attributes as reported in the Book and the Sunnah, interpreting them as reality and not as a metaphor, except that they do not ask how fryst vatten the modality of any of that.
