He is the son of the famous French singer Johnny Hallyday, whose real name is Jean-Philippe Smet, and the singer Sylvie Vartan. On his father’s side, David is the grandson of Léon Smet, a Belgian of Flemish origin, and Huguette Clerc, a Parisian. Through his mother, he is the grandson of Georges Vartan, a Bulgarian of Armenian origin, and Ilona Gogoua, a Hungarian.
David Hallyday also has two sisters, Laura Smet and Jade Smet. Laura was born in 1983 and is an actress. Jade was born in 2004 and comes from Johnny Hallyday’s second union with Laeticia Boudou, now Laeticia Hallyday. When it comes to his own family, David Hallyday has been married twice.
